Using oracle cards has helped provide more clarity and guidance as I navigate my divorce. A big part of my journey has been to relearn how to trust myself, and card readings have helped me rebuild my intuition muscle.
Unlike tarot cards, which have a structured deck of cards that always has the same meanings, oracle cards have varied meanings and uses depending on the deck.
Neither technique will give you lottery numbers or the secret sauce to let go and heal. Instead, each spread illustrates themes and/or energy that can help you pause, reflect, and remember that even in uncertainty, you possess profound wisdom. These readings can spark "aha" moments, nurture hope, and remind you that you're not just healing, you're transforming.
There's no wrong or right way to practice, so play around with a ritual that works best for you. Using breathwork and a bit of meditation, I typically light a candle and (try to) get still/quiet/centered, so I can be more intentional with what I want out of the reading. I shuffle my cards like a little kid and pull at random, and if an extra card falls into my lap, I consider it a bonus message.
Here are a few ideas to get you started—when in doubt, ask the cards what three things you need to remember right now. Have fun!
Phoenix Rising: A 5-card spread exploring the themes and/or energy you should consider embracing to rise from the ashes of your marriage and reinvent yourself.
Cutting Cords: A 3-card spread to help 1) identify lingering attachments, 2) what to release, and 3) what freedom looks like.
Heart Healing Journey: A 7-card path reading, each card representing a stage in your emotional healing process (and the themes and/or energy to pull strenght from).
Reclaiming Your Power: Pull 4 cards to reveal your 1) hidden strengths, 2) areas for growth, 3) obstacles to overcome, and 4) your ultimate empowerment.
Wisdom of the Wound: 3 cards to explore how a painful chapter in your life 1) has changed you for the better, 2) what you're being invited to release, and 3) the gift hidden in the experience.
Future Self Dialogue: A 3-card spread creating a conversation between your present self and your healed future self. 1) What does your future self always want you to remember? 2) Where do you need to focus right now? 3) Where do you need more self-love/compassion?
Releasing Resentment: Choose 3 cards for acknowledging anger, transforming it, and channeling that energy positively.
Self-Love Compass: A 4-card spread for North (mind), South (body), East (spirit), and West (heart) aspects of rekindling self-love.
Plot Twist: A 3-act spread viewing your divorce as a story pivot, with cards for the ending chapter, the transition, and the new beginning.
It's not about predicting the future, but about rediscovering your inner compass. Always remember the real magic isn't in the divorce oracle card readings, but in the reflections and insights they spark. Journaling each reading can also be helpful to notice patterns and celebrate growth.

The best way to find your deck is by wandering around your local metaphysical and/or crystal shop, and see which deck "pulls you in." Some local bookstores also carry them!
